This is the true love story of Tom and Abbey

This is the true love story of Tom and Abbey

It was a crisp October day, as it usually is in East Lansing, Michigan at that time of year, when Tom and Abbey first met. They had both decided that that weekend would be a great time to visit their alma mater, Michigan State, to catch up with friends and cheer on their favorite football team. Little did they know that because of those choices, their lives would never be the same. Tom and Abbey met that weekend through a mutual friend. They both really liked each other, but ran into one fairly large problem…they lived across the country from each other. Instead of giving up on getting to know each other, Tom and Abbey kept in touch by phone every few months. During this time Tom was living in South Carolina, but would soon be surprised with a life changing move, and Abbey lived in Detroit, Ecuador and Denver. After two years of building a relationship over the phone, Tom was shocked to find out that his career was taking him out to the far reaches of Australia. Instead of parting ways, they decided to continue talking and seeing each other. Before Tom left for the “land down under”, he and Abbey managed to see each other and even meet each others families. The result…their bond was strengthened even further and they decided to make it official and start dating even though they were going to be on different sides of the planet. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Fast forward five months~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tom decided it was time to finally take the next step and ask Abbey to be his wife. The first thing he needed to do was find a ring. Living in a foreign country made finding a trusted jewelry store no walk on the beach. Confident, Tom decided to contact the jewelry store that his grandparents, parents and family have been patrons of since 1946 His family told him great things about Steffan’s Jewelers and he knew he would be taken good care of, even from the other side of the world. Suzanne and Tom quickly started planning and designing the ring all through e-mails and phone calls. They only had a few weeks and needed the plan to be executed perfectly. The plan was for Abbey to visit Tom in Australia over the Christmas holiday. The easiest way for the ring to get to Tom was to send it from the states with Abbey! The staff at Steffan’s made sure that it was packaged with great care and secrecy so that no one could break in, especially not Abbey. Her soon to be token of Tom’s love traveled with her on the plane all the way from Denver, CO. to Perth, Australia where she handed it over to Tom. Upon arrival, they immediately took off on a weeklong Australian adventure.   They went camping, scuba diving and sightseeing. Along the way they encountered amazing sights,   crazy animals and even some car troubles. On Christmas Eve, they reached a beautiful beach resort and decided to go for a walk along the beach. This was the first year that both Tom and Abbey would be celebrating Christmas away from their families. As this realization sunk in, Tom decided now would be the perfect time to ask his love for her hand in marriage....

Here is Josh and Kayla’s love story.

Posted by on Mar 25, 2014 in Love Stories | 0 comments

Kayla and Josh met when they were just 6 years old. It just so happened that Kayla had become best friends with Josh’s younger sister. Throughout the years, Kayla always thought of Josh as her best friend’s older brother, that is until she was about 10 and developed a huge crush on him. The relationship took on a new meaning after Kayla turned 16, they began to see each other in a new way, instead of just being your “sisters best friend” or your “best friends brother.” Their relationship began at the Outdoor Theatre and has been evolving ever since. They are each other’s best friends, support systems and teachers. They push each other to be the best that they can be. Kayla and Josh are excited to announce that they will be husband and wife in May of 2013!! Congratulations to both of you from everyone at Steffan’s...

Dan and Becky’s story of love.

Dan and Becky’s story of love.

Dan and Becky met on the water as teammates on the Plum Ski-ters Waterski Show team. Dan was still in high school and Becky was in college, so needless to say they were just teammates back then. Dan was just a friend of Becky’s brother. ~~~~~~~~~~~Fast forward a few years~~~~~~~~~~ In the summer of 2010, Becky was now in graduate school, the Plum Ski-ters had a 50-year team reunion planned. Becky and her brother, after a fun day out playing on Plum Lake, decided to go check out what the reunion was all about. Becky recognized Dan right away, but Dan did not recognize her. After a while, Becky and some of her friends had decided they wanted to go hang out downtown and she had invited Dan to join them…he accepted and little did they both know that this was going to be the last first date night of the rest of their lives. To finish off the summer, Becky had to go to LaCrosse WI. for an internship. Upon her arrival, she found a vase of flowers from Dan wishing her luck. A few weeks later, Dan injured himself waterskiing, but that didn’t stop him from visiting Becky, a week after he had been hurt he was in the car driving 8 hours just so he could be with her. Even though she loved spending time with him, Becky was still unsure if they were meant to be together, she knew how hard long distance relationships could be. Even after Becky moved back to Cincinnati where she was going to grad school, Dan didn’t give up. He traveled to visit Becky every other weekend. She eventually fell for his charm and humor. As graduation for Becky approached, both of them were nervous about what would happen next. Becky had applied for various jobs in Grand Rapids but it wasn’t until 5 days before graduation that she received the job offer that she had been waiting for. It was finally time for them to enjoy uninterrupted time together, no more homework or long and boring car rides. That summer they spent their time on the river and Lake Michigan enjoying the outdoors and fabulous waterskiing. But soon enough, the weather turned cold and the snow started to fall. On a shivery cold Saturday in early December they decided to go check out a puppy at the humane society. It was that day that they added one to their home, naming her Little Miss Mali Bu. But it wasn’t until that next Saturday that they would make their family official. Unbeknownst to Becky, Dan had contacted his family jeweler, yep that would be us, to pick out an engagement ring. Through multiple e-mails and various phone conversations Dan designed a beautiful ring especially for his one true love. On December 17th, after an amazing dinner and ice skating, Dan got down on one knee and asked Becky to marry him in front of their first Christmas tree with their new puppy at their feet. Becky had been waiting such a long time for this moment. After she asked “really?” a few times, she finally said “YES!!”   The joyous couple are planning their wedding for this September where they will be surrounded by their family and closest friends as...

Danny and Cecily: Meant For Each Other.

Danny and Cecily: Meant For Each Other.

Cecily and Danny went to high school together. You could say that they knew each other but that was about as far as their relationship went…at least back then. Cecily was good friends with Danny’s brothers girlfriend so when she came home for a summer visit one year she immediately called Cecily to hang out. By this time, everyone was out of high school and doing their own thing. Cecily had two daughters that she loved more than anything in the world. When Cecily got the call to hang out with her friend, she found a sitter and went out for a much needed night of catching up. Little did she know that she would be meeting her future husband that night. Danny and Cecily hit it off right away. They had fun with each other, got along great and he accepted her two girls like they were his own. After about a year of dating, Cecily knew he was the perfect one for her. She was ready for a ring! It was Christmas morning, Cecily, Danny and the two girls, Kylee and Audrey were sitting by the Christmas tree opening gifts. Danny and Cecily had agreed that for this Christmas they were not going to exchange gifts. After all of the gifts had been opened, Danny asked Kylee (Cecily’s oldest daughter) to check under the tree for mommy’s gift. Now this upset Cecily, she knew that there wasn’t going to be anything under there for her. She was right. Kylee came out from under the tree with a sad look on her face and said that there was nothing under the tree for mommy. Cecily was getting even more angry because now her daughter is upset that Santa forgot about mommy. Danny said, “Oh, I forgot that I told Santa that I would get your mom a really special gift this year so he didn’t have to.” He took Kylee and quickly ran upstairs. All the while, Cecily is thinking about why he would do that when they had agreed no gifts. A few minutes later, Danny and Kylee came back down stairs and Kylee asked Cecily if Danny could be her stepdad. Cecily didn’t register what was just said to her so she didn’t answer. Kylee, again and a lot louder this time, asked, “CAN DANNY BE MY STEPDAD?” Cecily kind of just mumbled a “sure, yeah whatever” response and didn’t really think much of it… that is until she looked up. There’s Danny down on one knee with a Hearts on Fire ring box from Steffan’s in his hand. Cecily leapt up and jumped into his arms and quickly answered, “YES!!!” They do not have a date picked out as of yet because they are expecting their first child together this April!! They are thinking about the Spring of 2013, but there is no rush. Cecily is just happy that she gets to spend the rest of her life with the most amazing guy she could ask for a great father for her kids!       Everyone at Steffan’s is so excited for Danny and Cecily! Congratulations on your engagement and your new baby!! (We can’t wait to see some pictures of him...

Jonathan & Theresa

Jonathan & Theresa

She thought it was a celebration because she had finished taking the bar exam. He knew it was going to be the biggest night of their lives. Jonathan took Theresa to the Kaman family’s lake house in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin under the ruse that they were going to dinner to celebrate that she had conquered the bar exam; however, he was really taking her there so that he could surprise her with a romantic, candlelit lakeside dinner cooked by a personal chef and . . . a proposal. As the sun was starting to set over Lake Geneva, Jonathan asked Theresa to marry him and, through the tears of joy and excitement, she said, “Yes!” Jonathan and Theresa are thrilled to share with you that they are engaged! Congratulations to you both from the staff at...
