Appraisals

Fluctuating gold prices, increasing crime and the economy are 3 excellent reasons to insure your valuables. Your jewelry is not covered for the full replacement value without a special rider to your homeowner’s insurance policy. In order to get a rider, you need to provide your insurer with an appraisal.

Our GIA trained Graduate Gemologists are experienced in insurance appraisals as well as estate appraisals. We’ll prepare all of the paperwork you need and usually within 24-48 hours. If you prefer, schedule a while-you-wait appointment by calling us at 815.385.6070.

We recommend that you update your appraisals every 3-5 years depending upon market conditions. An updated appraisal ensures you don’t pay too much in premiums (over-insured) or are under-insured and thereby cannot get a full replacement should a loss occur. Should something go wrong and you suffer a loss, call us immediately. We are a preferred replacement vendor for State Farm and other national and local insurers. We’ll do all of the work and make sure you are pleased with the result. Email [email protected] if you have questions regarding appraisals.

For items purchased elsewhere, fees are $75 for the first piece and $50 for each additional piece. Appraisal includes 2 copies of the final write-up in a plastic envelope. Our process includes mounting check, stone identification, photograph and polishing.
